Jakarta Ready to Increase 24-Hour Park Activations

The Jakarta Government is currently reviewing proposals to open more 24-hour parks in various areas of Jakarta.

If the area and facilities are ready, I will open it

This policy follows the success of five parks that have been operating 24 hours a day and have received high appreciation from the community.

The five parks that have been open 24 hours are Lapangan Banteng Park, Menteng Park, Ayodya Park, Langsat Park, and Christina Martha Tiahahu Literacy Park.

Supervision of Jakarta's 24-hour Parks Tightened

"There are indeed proposals from several cities to suggest 24-hour parks in each city. We'1re currently reviewing them," said Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung, at the Office of Jakarta Public Works, Spatial Planning, and Land Agency in Cideng, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (7/2).

He assessed, this 24-hour park opening policy was appropriate. As for Mataram Park, which had not yet opened and was still under review.

This is one of the measures taken to provide a broader space for residents to express themselves. The opening of other 24-hour parks will be carried out if they are deemed ready and equipped with adequate facilities, including CCTV for surveillance.

"If the area and facilities are ready, I will open it," he stressed.

He also encouraged that 24-hour parks be used for various positive activities. One of which was by showcasing the UK Royal Marine Band at Lapangan Banteng Park, Central Jakarta, a few days ago in celebration of Jakarta's anniversary.

He also expressed interest from the Japanese cultural community in using the 24-hour park as their activity venue.

"If parks can be used for such activities, surely the parks will become more lively," he stated.
